Welcome back to a new week at Trinity! I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. In seventh grade social studies we talked about the fact that while Christopher Columbus was far from a perfect individual, for better or for worse, his voyages changed the course of world history. However, please make note that this weekend we are also celebrating the achievements of Leif Erikson and the Viking explorers who were the first Europeans to explore North America. Yes, Leif Erikson Day is a thing!

7th Social Studies

This week we are off to camp at Koinonia from Wednesday to Friday. On Tuesday, we will study the exploration and settlement of the French and Dutch colonies in North America.

8th Social Studies

This week the students will be wrapping up our brief study of Reconstruction. They will be working on review materials in preparation for their chapter 16 test on Wednesday, October 18th. This will conclude our study of the events surrounding the Civil War. Next, we will study westward expansion and the sources of the myths of the, “Wild West.”

8th Religion

First, the memory verse for this week is an old favorite, Jeremiah 29:11. The quiz will be on Wednesday, October 11th. The schedule for the first trimester is available here. In class, the students will be studying the continuation of Abraham’s covenant with God, as we study the family dynamics of Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau. To delve further into family dynamics, and how God can use even the worst of circumstances for blessings, the students will study the story of Joseph being sold into slavery by his brothers. The students will be receiving the guidelines and rubric for the first trimester project this week. It will be due on October 30th. You may view the outline here.
