Greetings to all and welcome back for a new week! Here are the plans for this week.

7th Social Studies

This week the seventh grade classes will learn more about the European settlements in North America. They will learn about life in a Spanish settlement and how class divisions affected the lives of the settlers. We will then go on to learn about the settlements of the French and Dutch.

8th Social Studies

This week the students will find out what happened after the Civil War concluded. We will start off with an activity in which the students play the role of Congress, and decide how to solve the issues that occurred at the end of the war- how to help the freedmen, should the Confederates be punished, etc. Then, the students will learn about the actions the government actually took, and how they dealt with the curve ball of Lincoln’s assassination. This point in history was chaotic, but in true American style, the nation came together and pulled through to become even stronger.

8th Religion

In religion, we are continuing our study of Abraham, and then his son Isaac. We will focus on two key points: how to deal with challenges God allows in our lives, and how to trust in God’s plan. The lessons this week are the background for the first trimester project. The outline and rubric for the project will go home this week. Links will be posted toward the end of the week. Also, memory quizzes have officially been moved to Wednesdays. You may view the new schedule here. It has also been posted on the Google Classroom. There was no quiz on Friday, so the quiz on Ephesians 4:15 will take place this Wednesday, October 4th.
