The week of May 14th…. The days just seem to be flying by! Here are the updates from each of my classes for this week.

7th Social Studies

This week the students will be reviewing Chapter 9, The Era of Thomas Jefferson. The topics we covered were ongoing conflicts with Britain and France, the Lewis and Clark expedition, and the War of 1812. Due to scheduling, the test will not be until Tuesday, May 22nd. However, this will give ample to to review and prepare for the test. Please review with your children at home. This will help reinforce the material that was covered. The study guide may be viewed here.

8th Social Studies

In eighth grade, we are fully into World War II, the chapter many have been waiting for. This week we will be studying how the U.S. was involved in the war. We will focus on key battles and how civilians supported the war on the home front. We will also be analyzing whether the world leaders at the time should be considered heroes or villains. The test on Chapter 24, World War II will be Thursday, May 31st.

8th Religion

This week we will be focusing on the themes of uncertainty and fear, and how God strengthens His people to overcome challenges and fears. The memory verse for this week is Romans 8:18, which can be found on page 103 in the student book, or here.
