Peace and blessings to each of you as you read this. Here are the plans for the upcoming week.

7th Social Studies

We are fully immersed in the Revolutionary War in seventh grade social studies. On Tuesday, each of the classes will reenact the debate over independence from Britain. The last debate they had on freedom of the press was excellent, and I have high hopes for this debate. We will then continue to study the pivotal battles of the war and how various groups pf people contributes to the war effort.

8th Social Studies

The students are currently working on writing their own news article in the style of the yellow journalists of the 19th century, based on the news reports that launched the Spanish- American War. We will then finish up the chapter studying how the U.S. became involved in Latin American countries, focusing especially on the construction of the Panama Canal. They will likely take their test on Chapter 20 on Wednesday, February 14th.

8th Religion

This week we will continue the all stars of the Old Testament with Ruth and the life and ministry of Samuel. The memory verse for this week is Philippians 2:13, found on page 59 of the student book.
