Greetings to all! Can you believe we are only two weeks away from Christmas?! Now begins crunch time before we go on break.

7th Social Studies

This week the students will be wrapping chapter 4 and their study of colonial life and culture. The students have been researching Gullah cultural influences and will share highlights of the research on Monday. On Tuesday, we will study the philosophical and political influences on colonial culture and our eventual government system. The students will have their test on chapter 4 on Tuesday, December 19th. The study guide will be posted later this week.

8th Social Studies

This week we will begin to study what is commonly known as the Progressive Era, the time period in the early 1900s that is known for social and political changes that greatly benefited society. This we week we will be focusing on changes that empowered voters, consumers, and the women’s movement. Since this chapter will be finishing close to the Christmas break, the students will be evaluated on their knowledge through completing a Document Based Question packet and essay.

8th Religion

This week we will be getting into the end of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness. We will be studying the final days of Moses’ life and how God used Rahab to protect the Israelite spies. In place of their memory quiz this week, the students are working on a, “eulogy,” for Moses, highlighting how God helped him overcome great struggles to deliver his people from the bondage of slavery and become a heroic figure to millions.
