Math Grade 6

This week the students are still working on finishing up Module 8. This module covers percents. Students will be converting percents to fractions, fractions to percents, percents to decimals, and decimals to percents. Students will also be solving percent problems using proportions and equivalent ratios. There is a quiz on using percents in word problems on Wednesday, 3/14. Extra help is Wednesday mornings at 7:30,

 

Math Grade 7

The students are beginning our next unit, which covers 3-dimensional geometry. Students will be exploring how to calculate surface area and volume. There will be a quiz on surface area on Thursday, 3/15.

 

Pre-Algebra

We are continuing our next unit on two-dimensional geometry. We will be exploring translations, reflections, rotations and symmetry, and dilations. Graph paper will be very helpful for this unit. This week our focus will be on similarity, and congruence. There will be a test on dilations, symmetry, and congruence on Thursday, 3/15.

 

Algebra

This week students are finishing up with Chapter 8. This unit explores polynomials, monomials, factoring, FOIL method of multiplying binomials, and D.O.T.S (Difference of two squares). We also covered factoring binomials and factoring by grouping.   Due to the snow day, our unit test has been moved to Wednesday, 3/14.
