READING- Our essential question is, “How do things change when someone is growing up?” To help us answer the question we will read, Tiger Grows up, Leo The Late Bloomer, and What Can a Baby Animal Do? We will also discuss how we have changed since we were born. Our high frequency words are: said, was, then, good, ate, could. The students will also practice blending words using the short “o,” “j” and “x” sounds, naming words that are opposites,(antonyms), discussing story order, using the pronouns they, it, I, and practicing reading fluency. A parental suggestion letter will be sent home on Tuesday, May 8, listing ways to help your child in Reading.

MATH- Wednesday, May 9, is our chapter 8 test. Continue to review using the materials sent home last week. Our next chapter will focus on identifying and describing two-dimensional shapes, this week beginning with circles.

RELIGION- This Thursday, May 9, we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord. Our chapel service has been moved to Thursday this week. We have read this Bible story and are discussing ways we can be God’s witnesses.

SOCIAL STUDIES- We’ll be discussing families and especially mothers. The class is making cards and gifts for their Moms.

HANDWRITING- We will write capital and lower case “S-s.”

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Every morning, lean thine arms awhile upon the windowsill of Heaven and gaze upon the Lord. Then, with that vision in thy heart, turn strong to meet the day.

Have a Blessed Week and Happy Mother’s Day!!!
