READING- Our essential question is, “What kinds of things could happen on a hike?” We will read Nicky and the Rainy Day, Sheep Take a Hike, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Builder and the Oni, to help us answer the question. We are reviewing the “r” and  short “i” sound, and learning the “d” sound. This weeks high frequency words are: go, here, soon, for, they, and up. We will practice our reading fluency skills by reading, Go For It and D is for Dad, in our Readers. In grammer the class will practice using future and past tense verbs and antonyms, (words that are opposites.)

MATH- This week we will complete Chapter 7 in our Math book. We will have a test on Friday, April 20th. Pages from the Math book and a study sheet will be sent home this week. If you want to begin to review, practice recognition of numbers 11-20 out of sequence and counting groups of objects using the afore-mentioned numbers.

RELIGION- According to the church calendar we are still celebrating the Easter season. The class is reviewing the crucifiction and Easter stories, and then discussing the story of Doubting Thomas.

HANDWRITING- The students are practicing capital and lower case “Q-q.”

SCIENCE- Our focus will be discussing the signs of Spring, and healthy eating.

REMINDERS:

Monday, April 23rd is Spring picture day.
