READING- The class begins Unit 4 this week. Our essential question is, “What kinds of things do scientists study?” We’ll answer the question by reading and discussing the following stories, Dear Mr. Blueberry, What is Science? and Benjamin Franklin, Inventor. Our high frequency word list has increased to six words per lesson, so please have your child practice reading the new words and any other words they may need to practice on a daily basis. This week’s words are, is, of, many, how, so, and where. We will blend words using the short and long “i” sound as in “sit” and “rice”. Continue to practice blending and reading words at home. Other concepts for this week are, learning about “asking” sentences or questions, locating details in a story, and writing a letter.

MATH- In Chapter 7 students will represent, count and write numbers 11-19. Our focus this week is 11-14.

SOCIAL STUDIES- We’ll read a biography about George Washington and learn some facts about our first president.

RELIGION- We continue to focus on Jesus’ ministry. Our story is “Jesus Blesses the Children.”

SCIENCE- We are completing our chapter on different places that plants and animals live. We will have a test on Thursday, March 2. Pages will be sent home for you to use to help your child review.

REMINDERS
