READING – We will be reviewing this week for a Unit 3 reading test. The following material will be reviewed in class and will need to be studied at home:

  • High frequency words: come, you, me, what, with, are, my, now, and any previously learned words.
  • Blending using medial short “a” sound with letters “b”, “n”, “f”, and any previous letters learned.
  • Listen and identify words with the same ENDING sound.
  • Practice reading simple three letter words as have appeared in the short stories sent home to practice in the Readers. These words are: an, man, tan, fan, ran, can, Dan, pan, am, Sam, ham, jam, Pam, cap, nap, lap, sap, tap, map, at, mat, bat, cat, fat, hat, Nat, pat, rat, sat.
  • Given two pictures that show the beginning and middle of a story, your child should be able to tell a plausible end to the story.

The test will be given on Tuesday, March 6.

MATH – The class continues to practice subtraction problems. We are currently using the act it out method and will also make use of objects and drawings to help us solve subtraction problems. The use of correct terminology and the writing of a subtraction sentence is also being taught.

RELIGION – As we talk about Jesus’ ministry our focus is on the story of Jesus changing water into wine.

JOURNAL – We will complete the sentence, “I like to read books about…” and draw a picture to depict our answer.

HANDWRITING – The students are reviewing the correct formation of capital and lower case “C-c”, “E-e”, and “F-f” on lines and will write the missing uppercase letters in an alphabetical sequence.
