READING – Our essential question is, “Why do people have to take care of their pets” To help us answer that question we will read and discuss the following stories, I Have a Pet, Please. Puppy, Please, and Different Kinds of Dogs. In addition we will discuss the picture story, Baby Bear’s Family, and The Party in our student readers. Our high frequency word is “the” and we will review the word “I” and “like.” We continue to listen to the beginning sound in given words, review capital and lower case letters, A-Z, learn that nouns name animals and things, and discuss synonyms as words that have the same or almost the same meaning.

MATH – We will complete our first Math chapter this week. The Math Practice book and pages from Chapter 1 will be sent home for you to use to help your child study for their first Math test. The test will be given on Thursday, October 26.Continue to help your child practice writing numbers 0-5 on lines. They will need to be able to write numbers on the test.

RELIGION – We will continue to discuss the Bible story Noah’s Ark.

SOCIAL STUDIES – October is anti-bullying month. Our discussions and activities center around this theme.

SCIENCE – The season of Autumn and the changes of this season are part of our activities, as well as what’s inside a pumpkin and how a pumpkin grows.

HANDWRITING – We are practicing horizontal lines moving left to right.

REMINDERS

Return permission slips and money for our trip to the pumpkin farm by Wednesday, October 25.

Scholastic orders are due Friday, October 27.

Dress your child in appropriate outer clothes as we go to the playground daily, weather permitting.
