READING – Our essential question is, ” What do animals do when the weather changes? ” We will read Storm is Coming, and Snow  to help us answer the question. We will also continue blending sounds using short “a,” identify the sounds at the end of words,  and learn the “n” sound, read the high frequency words, “with” and “my,” learn the sentence part called the “verb” or action word, and read the stories, I Can Nap and Tap With Me in our Readers.

MATH – The students are learning “number pairs” for the numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. An additional parent letter was sent home to explain ” number pairs.” Please read it carefully as it will help you understand your child’s homework this week.

RELIGION – Jesus calls His disciples will be our Bible story. We will also discuss how we can share God’s love with others.

SCIENCE – As we approach Groundhog’s Day this Friday, February 2nd, we’ll discuss making “predictions.” The students will also learn about the groundhog and the legend behind the groundhog’s prediction for an early or late Spring.

WEEKLY READER – Meet Mo Willems, a famous author, will be our topic of discussion. We’ll also learn this author’s writing process. If you have a book written by Mo Willems and would like to send it to school, we’d like to read it. Please have your child’s name on the book.

REMINDERS
