First Grade News
We have had a wonderful start to first-grade! The children are all settling into the routine, and are happy to be back with all their friends. They are excited to have their own desks full of books, and they are learning to work more independently. London is new to our school, and has fit right in with her classmates!
I will be administering benchmark tests to the children this week, which will be given again mid-year and at the end of first grade. We will begin work in all subject areas this week.
One of the many exciting things about first grade is our Smart Board. We use it daily, whether it is to learn Math, reinforce what we are learning in Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, or have fun playing games. We work very hard in first-grade, but we enjoy down time too when we go outside, enjoy snack in the classroom, or eat lunch in the cafeteria with our friends.
I look forward to a year full of learning, fun and working together to make our classroom environment the best it can be! September 21st is Back to School Night at 7 pm. Please make every effort to attend as I will be explaining more about our curriculum, schedule, procedures, and classroom activities.
