Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!

Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!

Spelling- The new words for this week are: bedtime, sunset, bathtub, sailboat, flagpole, backpack, playpen, raincoat, inside, himself, more, mother, try, want. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for homework by Tuesday. They should write 8 sentences by Wednesday. Use at least 5 words in each sentence. The children may also write a story using all ten words instead of ten sentences! The Spelling Test will be on THURSDAY, 3/9 (no school for the children on Friday).

Phonics- short e words; compound words

Language Arts- prepositions

Reading: We will read the story Little Rabbit’s Tale. The children will read it again at home. The Reading tests will be given on Thursday. Please make sure your child reads the decodable readers that are sent home each night. They should be able to read the stories fluently. The “R” book words are: door, more, mother, old, try, use, want, wash. They will be on the vocabulary portion of the reading test, and 4 of them are on our spelling list

Math- The math test for chapter 8 will be on Wednesday. We will take a practice test on Tuesday.

Science- Plant structures

Social Studies- Book 4- All about money

Religion- Stories about Jesus’ miracles

Weekly Reader- Healthy Teeth

1AA News

The teachers have a professional development day this Friday, March 9th. There is no school for the students. Our spelling and reading tests will be given on Thursday this week.

Thank you to all who baked delicious cookies for our 100th day of school last week! We had lots of fun activities, and we especially enjoyed guessing the 100 items our classmates brought to school!
