I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend!
We just finished reading Because of Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo. The class agreed that it brought out a lot more emotion in them than most of the chapter books that they read. This will hopefully spark some students to be more interested in a variety of literature during their independent reading time. This month’s Scholastic Book Order may be a good opportunity for families to take a look at trying something new with your child’s reading choices. I try to encourage reading as much as possible!
Week: October 9-13
Spelling: wait, weight, heard, herd, days, daze, heel, heal, peak, peek, sent, cent, scent, feet, feat, vane, vein, vain, miner, minor; Challenge Words: raise, raze, rays, principal, principle
Reading: Small reading groups
Grammar: Sentence fragments and run-on sentences
Writing: Writing a fictional narrative
Math: Multiplying two and three-digit numbers by a single digit
TESTS this week:
- Thursday – Memory Quiz
- Friday – Spelling test
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Wednesday will be Winn Dixie day in the 4th Grade
- Please be sure your child has a pair of sneakers in school at all times
- All students were asked to keep mechanical pencils at home. Only standard Number 2 pencils will be permitted in our classroom.
