We are off to a great start in 4th grade!
Last week the students took Benchmark exams in ELA and Math. These tests will just be used as a guide to monitor there individual progress throughout the year.
This week we begin working in our academic subject areas. We are still waiting on some textbooks so there are a few students who will receive photocopies of the work. Please bear with us as we wait for a few more books.
Week: September 11-15
Spelling: blade, gray, past, afraid, magic, delay, amaze, drain, maybe, sale, hang, stain, glass, raft, jail, crayon, fact, stale, steak; Challenge words: fraction, trait, champion, activity, graceful
Reading: We are reading the chapter book, “Because of Winn Dixie”, by Kate DiCamillo; next week we will add stores from our Journeys series
Grammar: subjects and predicates
Writing: Review steps of the writing process; set up writing binders
Math: Place value, comparing and ordering numbers, rounding
TESTS this week:
- Thursday – Memory Quiz
- Friday – Spelling test
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Please sign up for the Remind App using our class code if you haven’t done so already. I will use this as a way to communicate with parents throughout the school year.
- Scholastic Book Orders are due Wednesday.
