We have been talking a lot in our 4th grade classroom about having a positive environment for learning.  An environment where each day we are surrounded by love and happiness so that all class members can be the best that they can be.  We are learning the importance of working cooperatively with one another as well as the value of encouraging individual performance.

I’m looking forward to seeing the 4th grade parents on Thursday night to tell you more about our classroom expectations.

Week: September 18-22

Spelling:  celebrity, counsel, demonstrate, drowsy, essential, hardship, haul, humble, pledge, sincere, stampede, suitable  Challenge words:

Reading:  Anchor text – “My Brother Martin”; Informational text – “Langston Hughes: A Dreamer Poet”

Grammar:  kinds of sentences – declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory

Writing:  Descriptive paragraphs about something we can’t live without

Math:  adding and subtracting whole numbers

TESTS this week:

  • Friday – Spelling test

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Please sign up for the Remind App using our class code if you haven’t done so already.  I will use this as a way to communicate with parents throughout the school year.
  • Picture day is Thursday and our class photos are at 8:25am; please be sure students arrive promptly to school
  • Back to School Night is Thursday at 7:00pm
